Correct Learning Environment for Music Students

At B&B Music World, we take great care in the development of our music students.  The overall approach is to keep the lessons fun and interesting.  Creating the correct learning environment is the focus of our approach.

When our private music students feels overwhelmed, our teachers encourage them while going over the piece several times until it is manageable and the anxiety has decreased. Then we emphasizes that if frustration gets high at home, simply put it aside until the next lesson. This challenges music students to stretch their abilities and be more successful, while also being free to let it go if it’s not easy yet.

One student wanted to play a particular piece that was beyond her abilities, but she had heard it on a movie soundtrack and was excited to try it. We encouraged her to do so, modifying it a bit. We even suggested she play it for a recital. The student blossomed with that piece because she had received the confidence to master it and develop the skills to do just that. She did not tell her it was impossible.

Our teachers are very conscientious about the fine line between a challenge and high frustration. We want to encourage students, not deflate the spirit. Our teachers are also very patient, sensitive, flexible, and conscious of how to create a positive environment geared for success.

B&B Music World has been providing private guitar, piano, drum, cello, bass and violin lessons in the DC area since 2005.
